Incident Thwarted: Attempted Heist on Armored Vehicle in Grenoble Centre

On the 24th of April 2025, police authorities successfully prevented an attempted heist targeting an armored vehicle in the heart of Grenoble’s city centre. According to sources close to the investigation and reports from « Ici Isère » (formerly France Bleu), officers stationed outside a local branch of the Banque de France noticed two suspicious vehicles conducting surveillance activities in the vicinity.

A chase ensued when one of the suspicious vehicles began driving against traffic on the highway, after which it was abandoned by its occupants. The second vehicle was later located parked in Fontaine, near Grenoble, where suspects had stolen another car to escape with.

RAID forces were mobilized as a precautionary measure to ensure no perpetrators remained inside the residence that the stolen vehicle had been parked outside of.

The latest incident mirrors an attack from October 10th last year when gunmen armed with Kalashnikovs attempted to rob a cash-in-transit van in central Grenoble, but the couriers managed to flee and reach a nearby gendarmerie station for safety.
